How far in advance should i reserve my dog’s spot?
The sooner you contact us, the better! Finding the right breeder and selecting the best puppy can be a daunting process – let us help you navigate those difficult waters. If you’ve already purchased a puppy, contact us ASAP to reserve your dog’s spot at our training facility. Ideally, your dog will begin our training program at 5-6 months old so, please give us as much advance notice as possible. Please call us to discuss details. We will gladly send you a concise follow up email, highlighting our training program specifics.
At what age can my dog begin training?
While each dog is slightly different, most are mentally and physically prepared to begin formal training at 5-6 months of age. Please contact us for help and further information regarding raising/socializing your pup properly.
Do you do puppy training?
Though we do not offer puppy training, we do offer puppy start guidance! Check out our other services page to read more. Please call to request a copy of our detailed Puppy Development Guide which will help your pup have a seamless transition into our gundog training program.
Do you do other types of dog training?
Although our program is heavily focused on gundog and hunt test training, in certain circumstances, exceptions can be made. If you seek general obedience and/or behavior modification training for your dog, please call us to discuss potential solutions.
Do i need to bring dog food?
No, we supply dog food which is included in the monthly training cost. We feed and recommend Inukshuk 30/25 (30% protein/25% fat content, chicken based). High-energy dogs need a high-energy diet such as Inukshuk Professional Dog Food. Chosen by canine professionals across North America, the Inukshuk formula provides high-level nutrition for stamina, performance, and rapid recovery. This diet packs 578 Kcal/cup, providing the energy working dogs need to excel. Quality ingredients offer superior digestibility and exceptional nutrition. A concentrated formula allows for less feeding which is safer/healthier for your dog.
What are the vaccination requirements?
Upon arrival to our kennel facility, you dog must be immunized for the following viruses: Rabies, Kennel Cough, Parvovirus, Distemper, Hepatitis & Respiratory Disease (adenovirus type 1 & 2) and Leptospirosis. Be sure your vet immunizes your dog specifically for those mentioned viruses. We require a copy of your dog’s current immunization record at drop-off. Additionally, before arriving to the kennel, your dog must be on Simparica Trio. Simparica Trio is a monthly heartworm, flea & tick prevention. Please ask your veterinary clinic to prescribe this for your dog. Once your dog arrives at the kennel, we will provide the Simparica Trio monthly. This is included in the training cost.
Is there a veterinarian on site?
Although there isn’t a veterinarian on site, for emergency purposes, we are conveniently located four miles (less than a five-minute drive) from the nearest veterinary hospital. Additionally, we always keep an in-depth supply of emergency medications/materials on hand and we live on- site so, there is nearly always a staff member present. Furthermore, we have a great working partnership with Sky Canyon Veterinary Hospital in Grand Junction. Dr. Caylie Schena is our licensed veterinarian preforming all health/wellness physical exams and immunizations for each dog at our kennel every other month.
Is your facility licensed and insured?
Yes. Our kennel is fully inspected and licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s PACFA branch. PACFA (The Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act) is a licensing and inspection agency dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of pet animals in facilities throughout Colorado. Furthermore, we are fully insured and maintain a robust commercial liability policy.
What should i expect when i drop my dog off?
